Welcome to Country Luxe Derbyshire
Here at Country Luxe Derbyshire we aim to offer you the luxury and convenience of 5* hotel holidays in the private, peaceful and stunning surroundings of our beautiful countryside location. We want your stay with us to be the best you have ever experienced from a self catering holiday, and wish to share with you the very best of Derbyshire in every way. From first class hospitality to delightful food & drink and heavenly products, we have it covered!
We have two properties for you to choose from, both equally unique. The Old Church has been lovingly restored and converted into a characterful and cosy property to sleep up to 4 guests, whilst Alton Hall Cottage lends itself to larger groups of up to 10 guests in its spacious cottage and barn conversion, which has all the traditional features alongside a host of modern conveniences. They are both in the hamlet of Alton and are less than a 5 minute walk from each other, so it can work really well for groups wanting to book both properties together.
Our Holiday Cottages in Alton, Derbyshire
Alton is a small, peaceful hamlet, comprised of only 30 properties. Our neighbouring villages are Ashover, Wingerworth & Clay Cross, all of which have good amenities.
Ashover is our closest (and arguably most beautiful!) village. It has a Doctors, D Bown & Son Butchers & Grocers, Roma’s shop (selling ice creams, homemade cakes and snacks alongside local art and gifts) 3 pubs, a small park for children, an outdoor gym for all, tennis courts and ‘Stamp’ – a really lovely Post Office come Coffee Shop.
Marsh Green Farm Shop & Café is on the A632 to the west side of the village, and Highfield House Farm Shop & Café is slightly further along this same road, closer to Chesterfield. The pubs in Ashover are The Black Swan, The Crispin Inn and the Old Poet’s Corner, all of which serve food and are popular locally, boasting some very interesting histories.
Wingerworth is a little larger, with a few more amenities including a Spar shop, Chemist, a larger play park and 3 pubs - The Hunloke Arms, The Smithy Pond and The Barley Mow. There are some beautiful footpaths around Stubbing Court and its Great Pond.
Clay Cross is at the bottom of the hill, and is a little more commercial than Ashover & Wingerworth. It has several food shops, pubs & takeaways, as well as a public library and leisure centre. There is a large Tesco Extra which is open until late Monday – Saturday, and houses our nearest petrol station, plus an Aldi store.
